Ivan Greenhaw – 1951: Member, Sunset 1950 State Championship Football Team; All- State; teacher at W. E. Greiner and other DISD schools; “Ivan Greenhaw Award” named in his Honor - given annually to Sunset’s Outstanding Scholar Athlete.
Joe Boring – 1951: Senior Class President, 1951; Member, 1950 Sunset State Championship Football Team; All State; 1951 THSCA All Star Game; three sport Letterman at Texas A&M; All SWC in football, 1952; Member, Texas High School Football Hall of Fame.
Eugene S. Smith, Jr. – 1951: Member, Sunset Golf Team and Debate Club, 1951; President, Dallas School Board, 1974-75; Owner of Christian Publishing Company; received Honorary Doctorate from Harding University.
Don Martin – 1952: Restored the long-lost Sanger Trophy, Awarded to Sunset by Sanger Brothers Department Store, for most Athletic Championships by any of the original six Dallas High Schools; Trophy on exhibit at Old Red Courthouse Museum of History.
Paul Guerrero. Jr. ’53 – Jazz drummer and educator; played with The Paul Guerrero Quartet, The Fred Raulston Quartet, Woody Herman and his Orchestra, Stan Kenton Orchestra; designed Jazz Curriculum for DISD Arts Magnet High School.
Tom Kelley – 1954: Senior Class President, 1954; Won State High Jump Championship in 1953 and 1954 at Sunset; competed in high jump for SMU; Principal and Assistant Principal in DISD.
Cullen Blaine (Houghtaling) – 1954: Winner Two Emmy Awards for Warner Brothers’ “Tiny Toons”; Story Director, Disney’s “101 Dalmatians” and Supervising Director, “Ace Ventura” and “Spiderman”; Director, hundreds of TV commercials.
Carl Warwick – 1954: All State Baseball at Sunset; Played Major League Baseball for Dodgers, Colt 45’s, Orioles, Cubs; Champion, 1964 World Series with St. Louis Cardinals; tied World Series Record with three pinch hits; Member, Texas Baseball Hall of Fame.
Yvonne Craig – 1955: Played Batgirl in “Batman” TV Series; also roles in “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis”, “The Six Million Dollar Man”, “Love American Style”, “Star Trek”;  appeared with Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby and Dennis Hopper; began career in Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo.
